The purpose of the General English course is to provide students with a strong, well balanced knowledge and application of the English language.
It is taught in a fun and practical manner which will engage the students. The course provides opportunity for students to learn, make errors, receive feedback and engage in authentic, functional and practical conversational settings.

Course Description
The purpose of the General English course is to provide students with a strong, well balanced knowledge and application of the English language. It is taught in a fun and practical manner which will engage the students. The course provides an opportunity for students to learn, make errors, receive feedback and engage in authentic, functional, and practical conversational settings. Students will study speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation and the course will prepare them to use English outside the classroom or to move to a VET Course upon completion.

*Students will complete a placement test at orientation date to determine the starting level

Assessments: These levels include written projects/assignments, observations of practical tasks and/or group tasks.
*All students will be leveled up into a higher level class when they have satisfactorily completed a level or are not sufficiently being challenged in their current level.
Reassessment & Eligibility/ Entry requirements
Reassessment: Students can have three reassessments of NYC (Not Yet Competent) free of charge provided that the submission of assessments has been done on time. Further, if a student fails more than three times in the unit, the student will have to repeat that unit and charges will be AUD$350.00 per unit (GST will not be charged).
Eligibility/ Entry requirements:
- All applicants must be over 18 years of age
- Literacy language and numeracy test designed by GIC
